Celebrating Five Years of Success

Embracing our fifth year anniversary, we wanted to take the opportunity to look at how tremendously successful The Arena at Gwinnett Center has been. The Arena has hosted countless concerts, community events and sporting events, and is also home to both the Gwinnett Gladiators ECHL Hockey Team and the Georgia Force Arena Football Team. The Arena opened with an inaugural event featuring George Strait on Feb. 21, 2003 and has experienced incredible growth in these past five years.

Constructed with the patrons in mind, there is truly not a bad seat in the house.  Events can be held to accommodate groups from 3,500 in an intimate theater-style setting, up to 13,000 for a major concert or sporting event.  Over the span of the past five years, The Arena has hosted more than 500 events.

Here is an accumulation of fun facts collected over the past five years:

  • Gross ticket sales: $76,754,998
  • Five-year attendance: 3,850,000
  • In the past five years, The Arena at Gwinnett Center has held 157 Concerts.
Sixty-six of those concerts have played to a SOLD OUT house!
  • The Arena was nominated for the 2005 Pollstar Arena of The Year Award.

Top Five Shows over the past five years:

  1. George Strait: Feb. 21, 2003, 12,710
  2. Bruce Springsteen: Feb. 28, 2003, 12,420
  3. Metallica: Nov. 13, 2004, 12,336
  4. Justin Timberlake: Aug. 7, 2007, 12,327
  5. Elton John: Nov. 19, 2003, 12,183

Gwinnett Center does not have any plans to slow in the future; new construction will be breaking ground this year to include an Arena parking deck and additional meeting space.  The Master Plan for the campus was unveiled last year that calls for a four-star hotel, expanded meeting room and exhibit space, and architectural enhancements.  We look forward to the development of Gwinnett Center and making it an even better place for our community and patrons.

The Arena at Gwinnett Center would like to thank everyone who has made the facility such a success over the past five years.
