GMC Goes Interactive to Improve Patient Experience

Gwinnett Medical Center”s interactive offerings tie into their mission to provide outstanding care to the community. Allowing patients accessibility to this type of technology is a major step in that process. By utilizing the self-service kiosk in the hospital”s imaging building, patients can check-in, update their demographic and insurance information, and electronically sign documents. With the intention to roll out more kiosks in 2011, this technology will help to streamline patient registration. Launched this summer, both technologies have already garnered positive feedback, with over 3,000 patients accessing the online bill pay system and over 100 patients utilizing the kiosk.

The hospital”s new online bill pay system provides greater flexibility for patient payment. With 24/7 access, the system allows patients to view their financial information, contact staff, consolidate their family”s hospital accounts and remit payment all at the touch of a button. The system also provides answers to common questions patients may have about their bills. By consolidating data into one operating system, the new simplified billing experience is reducing the need for staff assistance while enhancing the overall patient experience.

"Gwinnett Medical Center is thrilled to provide our patients with the latest interactive healthcare technology," said Phil Wolfe, CEO of Gwinnett Medical Center. "These new products reflect GMC”s continued efforts to provide state-of-the-art and accessible healthcare to citizens of Gwinnett County and beyond."

Gwinnett Medical Center”s adoption of these new technologies ties into the hospital”s complete revenue cycle management transformation.
