Gwinnett County is well known for its high percentage of entrepreneurial businesses. As a region leader in business development, Gwinnett offers much that is appealing: 437 square miles of space, a sophisticated infrastructure, dedicated workforce, excellent public school system and exceptional quality of life. And now the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce has teed up again to offer SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives. A non-profit association, SCORE is a resource partner with the Small Business Administration and provides small businesses with technical and managerial consulting and training. SCORE is dedicated to entrepreneurial education and the formation, growth and success of small businesses.
Formed in 1964, the national organization is staffed by 12,400 retired business executives who work on a volunteer basis in one of 389 chapters throughout the United States. They provide insight on how to start and operate a business. Buy a small business. Franchise. Even sell a business. These counselors, who have “been there, done that”, help prospective and established small business owners identify problems, determine causes and find solutions.
Located at the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce building on Sugarloaf Parkway, SCORE volunteers can lend assistance by helping the small business owner or entrepreneur:
# Compose a business plan
# Develop Small Business Advisory Boards
# Conduct market research for business products or services
# Perform business start-up capital needs assessments
# Help with cash flow management issues
SCORE services are offered as a community service at no charge and are confidential. “The Gwinnett Chamber feels this alliance will provide the residents of Gwinnett and dedicated members of our Chamber an opportunity to have a wealth of entrepreneurial resources at their fingertips,” commented Richard Tucker, Chamber President and CEO.
