For Demetrius Jordan, regional director of the United Way of Greater Atlanta, a perfect night out would always include his family.
After a long day of hiking at one of their favorite spots, the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center, it”s not usual to see the Jordan family (wife Maryam and children Nehemiah, Petra, and Levi) head to their subdivision”s swimming pool.
“For our family, we have the most fun at swim meets. My 11-year-old daughter, Petra, and my 6-year-old son, Levi, both swim on our neighborhood”s swim team. It”s a volunteer event and social affair that goes all night long,”# says Jordan.
He explains that the swim meets are tons of fun for the kids and parents alike. “It”s nice to see so many people I work with daily in Gwinnett at these meets.”#
Jordan”s oldest, 14-year-old Nehemiah (better known as CJ), is not on the swim team, but his family supports him in football, basketball, and golf. He will be playing football at Peachtree Ridge High School this upcoming school year.
The family also enjoys going out for a bite to eat together. Although most of the time they opt for Chinese food, the Jordans also like to dine at Arena Tavern in Duluth.
“The bulk of our time is spent with our children in their sports and activities. This where we receive the most fulfillment – surrounded by our family doing what they love,”# says Jordan.
