The Story:
In her role as Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, Mary Beth Byerly oversees the Gwinnett Technical Colleges development initiatives and serves as the Executive Director of the Gwinnett Tech Foundation. Her team's most recent work is centered on increasing Gwinnett Techs life sciences offerings to meet the county's healthcare needs.

My Idea Of Fun:
A project that is compelling and beneficial for our community. The opportunity to be involved with great nonprofit organizations. Being with my family and friends. Fabulous travel destinations, being outside and running.

How I Got Here:
Being surrounded with others who share a common vision and mission makes it is easy to be motivated. I have been provided with great opportunities and the right environment in which to grow, to learn and to be creative.

Things I Tell Myself:
Don't run away from a challenge. Be a risk taker and continue to try new things that stretch your comfort zone.

What I'd Most Like To See:
A safe community with an outstanding quality of life. Available funding for training to ensure that area businesses have access to a skilled workforce. That my kids and family follow their dreams and remain healthy.

What's Next For Me:
The opening of the Life Sciences Building in 2011, developing new programs and adding accomplished faculty to meet the life sciences and healthcare workforce needs. Enjoying being the parent of two freshman, one in college and one in high school.
