Heroes Project Update: Kyle Cruce

Cancer has never slowed Kyle Cruce down. Diagnosed with leukemia in 2001, he went through chemotherapy, bone marrow biopsies, spinal taps and even a relapse in 2004 – only five months after finishing treatment.

After one bone marrow transplant and almost six years later, Kyle is a healthy and active teenager. He loves playing paintball, basketball and lacrosse. And, his biggest triumph since we last spoke with our 2010 Hero is that he passed his growth test.

Kyle is also active in awareness for cancer and cancer research. At 18, he wants to be a camp counselor at Camp Sunshine – a camp for children with cancer. He also participates in Relay For Life each year.

So, what has kept Kyle and his family”s spirits up during the hard times? “Keep fighting and praying. Pray until something happens,” said Regina Cruce, Kyle”s mother.
