Charter School Information Meetings Scheduled

students-at-a-computerGwinnett County eighth graders interested in joining next school year”s freshman class at Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology are invited to learn more about the school”s registration process.

Registration information for GSMST”s 2014-15 freshman class will be available Nov. 1 at all GCPS middle schools and on the district”s website ( as well as the school”s website (

Enrollment is open to all current eighth grade students who complete eighth grade promotion requirements and reside in Gwinnett County.
GSMST also will hold middle school informational meetings on the GSMST campus on the following dates:

Nov. 14: for eighth graders who attend middle school in the Archer, Central Gwinnett, Dacula, Lanier, Mill Creek, Mountain View and North Gwinnett clusters

Dec. 10: For eighth graders who attend middle school in the Berkmar, Collins Hill, Duluth, Norcross and Peachtree Ridge clusters

Jan. 15: For eighth graders who attend middle school in the Brookwood, Grayson, Meadowcreek, Parkview, Shiloh and South Gwinnett clusters.

Gwinnett County parents of eighth graders not currently enrolled in a GCPS middle school class may attend any of the meetings at GSMST to learn more.

The registration form (available Nov. 1) must be completed and returned to GSMST no later than the Jan. 31, 2014 deadline. GSMST will accept all interested students, unless there are more who register than there are spaces available, in which case a random lottery will be used to determine enrollment. The school will be accepting 350 students for the freshman class of 2014-15.

GSMST is a charter school offering students an opportunity to study in three broad areas of focus: bioscience, engineering and emerging technologies.

The rigorous coursework at GSMST may not meet the needs or interests of all students. As this is a school of choice, it is highly recommended that parents and students review the school”s curriculum and learn more about the offerings before making a decision to register.
