Children who study dance at Gwinnett Ballet Theatre are experiencing an education in the arts, which extends throughout other aspects of their lives. Not only do they learn dance steps, leading to better physical conditioning and posture, but they are accompanied by classical music which has been proven to help develop children”s learning abilities.

Preparation for our annual production of The Nutcracker is also a huge learning experience. Children put in a lot of extra effort with rehearsals where they also become part of a “team.”# Performing numerous times on the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center stage in front of a large audience develops self confidence, poise, and communication through movement.

A full slate of dance encourages personal organization and prioritizing-skills that benefit the student in ways outside the studio. It is no coincidence that many of our alumni have graduated from high school with straight A”s, become Magna Cum Laud graduates, and received college scholarships from such institutions as Georgia Tech, Yale, and Duke University, among many others. This is in addition, of course, to the fact that dancing 5 or 6 days a week leads to an incredible level of physical fitness!

This year, GBT has added another studio to accommodate the influx of new students we are experiencing. It will be a joy to watch them grow and blossom. After all, our GBT motto is: “Nurturing young dancers since 1977.”#
