Gwinnett Extended Care Center (GECC) announces its 10th Annual Ms. GECC pageant. This year”s event, Queen of the Spring, will take place Feb. 24 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room of GECC at 650 Professional Drive in Lawrenceville. The event, sponsored by the Gwinnett Medical Center Auxiliary, is free and open to the public.
This year”s pageant includes six outstanding contestants:# Jean Langford, Ruby Thomas, Inez Waters, Elizabeth Poyda, Lucy Dunaway and Ruth Clear. Jay Dennard, chief operating officer of Gwinnett Medical Center-Lawrenceville, will be leading the evening as Master of Ceremonies.
The talented judging panel, including Phil Wolfe, president and CEO of Gwinnett Medical Center, Lauren Edmunds, Miss Gwinnett County and Paige Havens, Rotary Club and GECC volunteer, will review the contestants in a number of categories. Contestants will be escorted by members of North Gwinnett High School”s ROTC and the pageant winner will have the opportunity to compete in the Ms. Georgia Nursing Home 2011 pageant in April.
Gwinnett Medical Center”s Gwinnett Extended Care Center was opened in 1997 to bridge the gap between acute care and home recovery, as well as to accommodate those in need of skilled nursing care.
