The Hope Clinic, a non-profit primary care internal medicine clinic will host its annual Circle of Hope Awards dinner on Friday, November 4, 6:30 p.m. at the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center in Buford.
The awards dinner honors physicians and healthcare service providers from the local community who have partnered with the Hope Clinic to provide care for their patients. The event also recognizes volunteers and citizens of the community for their contributions and volunteer work.
“The Circle of Hope Awards dinner serves many purposes. It”s both a way for us to thank the physicians and providers who make such a positive contribution to the Gwinnett community, and a way to help communicate our mission to the public,” says Jessica Geller, director of clinic operations at the Hope Clinic. “It”s our largest fundraiser and the money from the event goes towards patient care and operations at the clinic.”
This year”s physician honorees include:
- Romeo Massoud, M.D., General Surgery, Trauma Services/Gwinnett Medical Center
- Stephen Salmieri, D.O., Obstetrics/Gynecology/Oncology, Southeastern Gynecologic Oncology
- Jennifer A. Curtis, M.D., Gastroenterology, Gastroenterology Specialists of Gwinnett, P.C.
- Richard S. Reagin, O.D., Optometry, Reagin Optometric Group
- Nicholas A. Tiliakos, M.D., Rheumatology
The Hope Clinic provides primary internal medicine care services to over 5,000 uninsured/uninsurable or working under-insured patients in Gwinnett County annually. Patient costs are based on household income instead of the actual cost of providing the care. Donations to the clinic are used to fund the difference between the cost of providing care and the amount charged to patients, which the Hope Clinic refers to as the Compassion Gap.
The Hope Clinic also works with small business owners who cannot afford to provide medical benefits to their employees. The clinic”s unique service model greatly supports small business owners and employees, as well as the community as a whole by reducing the patient load of local ERs.
The Circle of Hope Awards dinner is open to the public. To purchase tickets, contact Jessica Geller at the Hope Clinic, at 770-685-1300.
