Managing Partner Margaret Gettle Washburn
Margaret Gettle Washburn is making a difference in Gwinnett. Her law practice represents clients facing a number of crisis situations, such as divorce, dealing with the division of assets, businesses and property, as well as custody of minor children. She also serves clients in cases involving workers” compensation, personal injury, criminal defense, and wealth transfer planning.
“Our most difficult cases involve the emotion of real life circumstances, including everything from contested divorce and custody matters to serious injuries suffered in an accident. I empathize with each of my clients” situations and use my legal expertise to achieve the best possible results for them in court. I care not only about the short-term outcome, but also what”s best for my clients in the long term,”# says Ms. Washburn. “My clients may have the same issues, but no two cases are ever the same. A passion for law runs in Ms. Washburn”s family. Her son, Lee, is a real estate and commercial litigation attorney in Gwinnett and her younger son, Houston, is pursuing a law degree.
Ms. Washburn has been the Chief Judge of the Municipal Court of Sugar Hill since 1993. She has served as past president for the Gwinnett County Bar Association (GCBA) and the Council for Municipal Court Judges of Georgia. She currently serves as the senior editor for the GCBA newsletter, for which she and the GCBA have received numerous accolades throughout the years. She is also an instructor in continuing legal education seminars in the areas of family law, workers” compensation and criminal defense.
