On July 20, 2013, the City of Duluth Mayor and Council officially cut the ribbon opening the Rogers Bridge Canoe Launch.# Canoeists, rafters and tubers now have an easier and safer way to enter the Chattahoochee River at Rogers Bridge Park in Duluth.# Designed by Atlanta-based HDR Engineering and constructed by Reeves Contracting Co. of Sugar Hill, the concrete launch includes a walk-down canoe ramp, a step-down boardwalk, a viewing area, and natural plantings. It replaces a dirt ramp.

Guests to the ribbon cutting event were welcomed by Duluth Mayor Nancy Harris and Duluth Parks and Recreation Director Kathy Marelle, who both noted the launch was paid for with SPLOST funds. The Duluth City Council and Parks and Advisory Board members were in attendance.

After the ceremony, some guests took advantage of an offer to tube to Abbotts Bridge. $10 River Tubing provided the free tubing excursions to the first 25 guests who registered.
