Boys and Girls ClubBoys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA) announces a new partnership with Ross Stores, Inc., to support the Club”s Power Hour program, an interactive after-school homework assistance program for members, ages 6 to 18.#The funding will help support and expand programs in Gwinnett at locations including Lawrenceville Boys & Girls Club, A. Worley Brown Boys & Girls Club and Louise Radloff Middle School Boys & Girls Club.

Georgia reports the 3rd lowest high school graduation rate in the country with one-third of teens failing to graduate in four years, oftentimes due to serious challenges they face personally and academically. The Power Hour program offers the opportunity for Club staff to support youth in developing a positive attitude about learning while emphasizing the importance of high school graduation.

“The generous support from Ross Stores shows their dedication to supporting academic success for youth in our community and communities nationwide,”# said Missy Dugan, president and CEO of BGCMA. “We know that regular participation in after school educational programs, like Power Hour, can help in addressing the high school dropout crisis and bridge the achievement gap for our youth.”#

The partnership with Ross Stores will assist in making the program a more effective tool to keep members on top of their academic studies as well as provide the Club with staff training and resources.# Additionally, local Ross store employees will have an opportunity to volunteer their time at local Boys & Girls Clubs.

“Supporting the local communities we serve is an important focus for us”, said Gary Cribb, executive vice president, stores and loss prevention for Ross Stores. “The Power Hour program provides youth with the opportunity to learn and develop skills to be successful in their studies.”

Power Hour is one of Boys & Girls Clubs of America”s top national programs supporting academic success and an important pillar in BGCMA”s broader academic goals. By 2020, the organization is working to ensure that 90 percent of the youth it serves are graduating on time, living healthy lifestyles and giving back to their communities.

BGCMA thanks all of its corporate and individual supporters for opening doors for our youth. For more information on how you can become involved with BGCMA, visit
