With a rivalry that runs deep in school history as well as two recent East Georgia State College commits, Casey Sims and Mina Watkins, it is safe to say that the Archer High School softball team is absolutely pumped for this week’s big game. The Lady Tigers will be defending their 7-3 record against Grayson High School, Archer’s biggest rival for varsity sports. The first pitch is set for 7PM this Thursday, September 7th.
With Archer’s third-baseman, Terrica Williams, racking up five homeruns in the first seven games, Grayson’s defense is in for a challenge. Archer’s potential win and corruption of Grayson’s current 8-1 record could mean a much greater chance at winning region. The outcome of Grayson’s games against Lanier and Rockdale will up the hype factor, to say the least.
Earlier this week, the official Archer softball Twitter page announced the game and called for their fans to be loud and wear red. The Archer Redzone, the official student section for all varsity sports, is expected to pack the stands this Thursday to cheer on their peers and to further ignite the flame between Archer and Grayson. If the Lady Tigers pull through with a victory at home against Grayson, Thursday’s game will certainly be the talk of the school.
