Dr. William Martin founded the Hope Clinic in 2002, focused on his personal philosophy to care for people and do what you can.
Dr. Martin’s commitment is the basis of the clinic’s mission to provide compassionate, quality healthcare to the medically underserved in Gwinnett County and suburban metro Atlanta. The clinic’s medical staff strives to build life-long relationships with their patients.
No one is turned away. Patients are charged on a sliding scale based on income. While over 180,000 people in Gwinnett County are uninsured, nearly 11% of Hope Clinic patients have insurance, but struggle with high deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses. And the clinic is one of the few in Gwinnett that accepts new Medicare patients.
The clinics unique business model has garnered support from county leaders and government. In 2016, the Hope Clinic was awarded a $300,000 grant to expand their Chronic Care Management Program. For a fraction of the cost to the community for emergency care, a chronic care patient at the Hope Clinic is provided regular doctor visits, monthly calls with a nurse, and nutritional education to create healthier habits and routines. As patients receive regular care and preventative screenings, demand on community hospitals and emergency resources is reduced.
Incredibly, the Hope Clinic has donated over $8,000,000 in medical care since 2002. To meet growing community needs and sustain the valuable work they do, future goals include adding another physician and additional medical staff.
