Relay’s long-time presenting sponsor Primerica raises nearly $500,000 for the American Cancer Society
Relay For Life of Gwinnett was the #1 income-generating event for the American Cancer Society (ACS) in 2017, raising $1,500,537. This year, Gwinnett is best again, raising $1,520,744 while celebrating 863 survivors at the 25th annual event in May 2018.
A primary ingredient in the Relay For Life of Gwinnett success story is Primerica, the Georgia-based financial services company.
“Primerica has proudly supported the world’s largest Relay For Life event as presenting sponsor for the past seven years,” says Karen Fine Saltiel, chair of the Primerica Foundation. “Through Primerica’s corporate funding and employee fundraising, Primerica has contributed more than $500,000 to the American Cancer Society to benefit cancer research and patient programs.”
Recognized as Gwinnett’s Top Corporate Team from 2012 to 2016, Primerica was also named a National Team of Excellence in 2017 and 2018. In 2018, Primerica received Gwinnett’s Spirit of Giving and Top Fundraising Team Awards, raising over $118,500.
At Primerica’s home office in Duluth, 1,700 employees participate in Relay fundraising efforts – often with some friendly competition.
“The competition is spirited and friendly, and includes a wide range of activities including the more traditional bake sales, raffles, silent auction, and jeans day,” Saltiel says. “Then we have the ever-popular Tricycle Race, which isn’t about distance – it’s about blazing speed!”
“We are extremely grateful to Primerica for their support, invested leadership, and employees’ generosity,” says Kristen Petillo, senior manager, community development, ACS. “Our fight against cancer cannot be won without committed community partners like Primerica.”
