Georgia United Credit Union announced today the winners of their 23rd Annual Scholarship Competition. Since its inception, nearly $200,000 has been awarded to high school seniors.
In 2017, a total of $27,500 was awarded to four deserving high school seniors through scholarships named for the credit unions founder, Vernon E Carne and notable board members Geraldine Tilson, Dorothy Dusenberry and Polly Hinde. Recipients were chosen based on a video competition with consideration given to academic accomplishments, leadership and participation in both school and community activities. Tanish Pradhan was the recipient of the Vernon E Carne Scholarship winning the $10,000 grand prize.
Pradhan is a senior at Parkview High School, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. He is a member of various academic and community service organizations including Technology Student Association, President of the Parkview National Honor Society, Math and Science National Honor Societies, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica and Beta Club. Pradhan plans to attend Georgia Technical Institute of Technology and major in Biomedical Engineering.
