It’s official! The new brew pub slated to open for business in downtown Duluth held their official ground breaking ceremony today, July 20th. Construction of the interior portion of the Good Word Brew Pub has already begun and excitement has filled the air.
“I had been thinking about the viability of a brewpub or craft beer bar in Gwinnett County for a couple of years. I always believed it would be viable, but others told me I was crazy. Meeting Nancy, James, and Chris with the city was a real eye opening experience. It was amazing to see a local government be as interested, invested, and helpful as they were. What they’ve got going on here is really special and we hope to play a small role in it” said partner Ryan Skinner.
The nearly 7,500-square-foot brew pub comes to the City of Duluth’s new restaurant and retail district called Parsons Alley that is being redeveloped as a destination location. The team behind the successful Brick Store Pub in Decatur, Todd DiMatteo and Ryan Skinner, is bringing their talents to Duluth. The duo brings more than 20 years of experience in the business to the district; making this location their seventh business.
“We are going to be community driven and hope folks will choose us as a backdrop to their lives and conversations. We will be laid back, give great service, food and beer. We’ll have a mix of wood and leather for decor; we’re still in that part of the process” said partner Todd DiMatteo.
Hopes are the new location will open mid to late October. Plans are to open for dinner initially and then lunch in the early part of 2018.
