Dacula Cluster was very excited to be honored with Gwinnett Countys first Innovation and Transformation Award which included $450,000 for the Dacula Cluster. This award was based on our excellent work and leading the county in the use of technology in the classroom. I am excited to report that we have spent that money, and we are in the process of rolling out over 900 laptops into the classrooms of Dacula High School. We will be the only school in Gwinnett County with this level of technology available for student use. This will enable the teachers to provide a very different learning environment than many of us grew up having in the classroom. Students will be able to use this technology to explore ideas and areas of interest beyond the basic content in a textbook, get extra help when they are struggling, learn at their own pace, and to do a myriad of other things to enhance their learning. We look forward to amazing learning opportunities for our students.
Likewise, we are excited that we have been approved to do some stadium renovations. Working with Boyce Design and Contracting, Gwinnett County Public Schools, the various sports that use the stadium, and the community, we hope to complete Phase I of our stadium renovation project by the first football game in August. This will include a new player entrance with a Falcon statue, new hedges along the entire fence facing the parking lot, significant work to the ticket booth and pavilions, work on the press box, and new plantings and signage along the back side of the stadium.
