On Saturday, April 29th, at Lillian Webb Park in Historic Norcross, Georgia more than a thousand individuals will gather together in the spirit of caring and giving to turn hope into reality for individuals with developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries at Annandale Village’s 26th annual signature event, Annandale’s Jazzy Thing.
As the only nonprofit organization in the state of Georgia that provides individuals with intellectual disabilities and acquired brain injuries a lifetime continuum of service and care, organizers say the demand for quality programs and services found only at Annandale Village makes the fundraising results of this year’s special event more vital than ever. Adam Pomeranz, Annandale Village’s Chief Executive Officer said, “Today, Annandale Village is serving more people than ever before in our 48-year history. Yet, in order to do more for those we currently serve and to meet the needs of the ever-expanding disability population, proceeds from Annandale’s Jazzy Thing afford us the opportunity to increase our capacity to serve the region’s developmentally disabled community”.
“For twenty-six years, Annandale supporters have turned out in impressive numbers at Annandale’s Jazzy Thing and help raise money to provide a comprehensive range of programs and services allowing individuals our clients the opportunity to lead lives that reflect quality, independence, self-worth, and achievement,” said Keith Fenton, Chief Development Officer of Annandale Village. “Through their thoughtful generosity, the event has more than $3-million dollars in total funds raised, enabling access to services for those that they may not have had the financial means to do so otherwise.”
Recognized as one of the largest and most respected charitable events in metro Atlanta, the 26th annual Annandale’s Jazzy Thin will offer guests a unique evening of exquisite cuisine, world-class casino games, an exciting silent auction, live entertainment, music, and handcrafted artwork created by local artists and residents of Annandale Village. Keith Fenton, Chief Development Officer of Annandale Village said, “Every year, we aim to raise the bar for our guests by creating a vibrant atmosphere sure to surprise and delight the senses of newcomers as well as our long-term event attendees. This year’s event is not an exception,” Fenton added.
It is estimated that there are 3.8 million individuals with sensory, mental, physical, or other developmental disabilities that impair their ability to effectively care for themselves. Yet, accessing appropriate services is an ongoing challenge due to an array of disparities seen in the health, rehabilitation, and social service arenas. Over the past five years, Annandale Village has strived to close the gap of available services. Annandale doubled the size of its national recognized D. Scott Hudgens Center for Skilled Nursing and constructed the state of Georgia’s only two assisted living facilities dedicated solely to the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Furthermore, Annandale has recently broadened its continuum of services by establishing a community based independent living program designed to serve intellectually disabled individuals transitioning from the public school system into adulthood.
