The cost of the Drivers Education course at Berkmar Community School, part of the Gwinnett County School System, is $345. This fee includes the on line course of instruction, if available. This school is licensed by the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) which requires that each student complete 30 hours of classroom instruction or the GCPS Online course and 6 hours of road instruction for a total of 36 hours. Students do not receive their certificates until all 36 hours are completed, with a grade average of at least 70% units and a final exam grade of 70%. If the student fails to appear for a pre-scheduled driving appointment or additional road instruction is requested, an additional fee of $45 per hour is charged. $100.00 is the minimum deposit for a class, with the balance due before completing the class. The student must have a learners permit prior to the driving portion of the class. It is understood that: It is the responsibility of the parents to provide transportation for the student to and from the Drivers Education classes located at Berkmar H.S (traditional course) or have access to complete the Online course.
All Gwinnett County school rules are in effect while a student is on campus, on line or while participating in the driving portions of the class. Each instructor is certified by the DDS. The completion of the course does not imply directly or indirectly that the student will receive a drivers license from the State of Georgia or any other state.
Notification of cancellation must be received within two business days prior to the start of the class in order to receive a full refund. No refunds are given once the class has begun.
