Eastside Medical Center, a healthcare leader in Gwinnett County for over 37 years, has partnered with Navigate Lifeline Gwinnett to provide peer recovery coaches to patients in need of this service during their visit to the emergency room. Eastside Medical Center recognizes the growing need for services such as LIFELINE Gwinnett due to the growing addiction crisis in Gwinnett County. By partnering with LIFELINE Gwinnett, Eastside is striving to make a difference in the long term health and well-being of those who are struggling with addiction.
LIFELINE connects with people who have overdosed, or those who are at high risk for overdoes, and their families with Peer to Peer Recovery Support Coaches, every day 24/7. Peer recovery support services like LIFELINE have been highly effective in combating the opioid crisis in other parts of the country.
How does the program work?
When contacted, a recovery coach will arrive within 30 minutes and provide a coaching session that will explore the patient’s options for treatment, detox, recovery housing, recovery centers, continued recovery coaching and meeting sites. During the session, if the patient agrees, the recovery coach will make plans for a follow up check in the next day. Education and support will also be provided for accompanying loved ones in the ED with the patient’s permission.
“We are pleased to partner with Navigate Recovery to assist individuals in their journey to long term recovery,” stated Eastside Medical Center’s Vice President of Behavioral Health Services Margaret Collier, “As Healthcare professionals, we recognize the great need for this service. By collaborating with our community, we feel that we will be able to make a significant impact on this crisis.”
LIFELINE services will be provided at both Eastside Medical Center’s Main Campus Emergency Department and the newly opened South Campus Emergency Department. For more information on LIFELINE Gwinnett please contact:
