As demand for Good Samaritans services have exponentially grown, they now serve nearly six times more people than they did four years ago. Hence, Good Samaritan has officially outgrown their current location in Lawrenceville and is excited to open their new 15,000 square foot facility in Norcross next week that will allow them to expand services and provide 20,000 patient encounters per year.
The Opening Day Celebration to include song, devotion and prayer, communion, tours and coffee. The event is open to invited guests, donors, patients, elected officials, and dignitaries. The celebration will take place Monday, July 25, 2016, from 7:30 9:00 a.m.
The Good Samaritan Health Center of Gwinnett is a non-profit medical providing low-cost primary and chronic care across the life span of uninsured residents of Gwinnett County and surrounding areas. The Center is relocating its operation to a larger more conveniently located facility in order to accommodate its present growth and respond to the communitys increasing unmet need for low cost and charitable medical and dental services for the poor and uninsured residents of all ages in north metropolitan Atlanta.
It is estimated 1.9 million people, 20% of all Georgians, are uninsured. Atlanta is where nearly one in four people of working age are without health insurance; the city ranked fifth in the nation for its number of uninsured residents. In Gwinnett County, nearly 11% are living below the poverty level, and 26.5 percent of its working population is without health insurance. In 2010, 16.5% of Georgians reported not seeing a medical doctor in the past twelve months due to a prohibitive cost of care.
