A Gwinnett county student is the latest winner of a Delta Community scholarship for students attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in Georgia. Delmer Jones III, a sophomore at Morehouse College, is a graduate of Brookwood High School in Snellville.
In addition to working two jobs, Delmer is pursuing a Marketing degree at Morehouse, where he finished his freshman year with a 3.7 GPA.
Delmer was awarded a $2,000 scholarship by Delta Community Credit Union’s COO Matthew Shepherd. “We are proud to participate in this worthwhile scholarship program,” said Matthew. “It helps hard-working students like Delmer immensely and also supports Delta Community’s goal of strengthening local communities through financial support.”
Throughout 2016, Delta Community will award a total of $8,000 to students attending HBCUs in Georgia. Each quarter, the entry period is announced on Atlanta radio station KISS 104 and applications are accepted through its website.
