Gwinnett Magazine Heroes Project 2016: Bobbi Menneg

“Take it one day at a time.”
– Bobbi Menneg

BobbiBobbi Menneg was diagnosed five years ago with Stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. This type of breast cancer is not hormone or estrogen driven and can be more aggressive and more difficult to treat.

“I had two surgeries. six rounds of chemo and 33 radiation treatments. Having cancer is like being thrown on a freight train and you are holding on for dear life,” Bobbi said.

“About a year ago, I lost my job and I began to volunteer with The American Cancer society and help with Relay For Life. I also work with a support group at Gwinnett Medical. I sat with a young lady yesterday who was there for her first treatment. My advice to her and to anyone who finds out they have cancer, is don’t try and think too far ahead and worry about a year from now, or two years from now. Don’t spend time wondering what happened and what if. Just say to yourself, I’m going to get through today. Take it one day at a time.”
