Did you know that studies show that access to books over the summer prevents a drastic loss of reading skills for students? A recent partnership between two elementary schools in Lawrenceville and the Lawrenceville First Baptist Church is putting books in students hand for the summer.
Students at Lawrenceville Elementary and Winn Holt Elementary will head into summer break this year with more than just fond memories of lessons learned and friendships made. Thanks to Lawrenceville First Baptist Church, each child at the two elementary schools will have the opportunity to take home books.
On Monday, May 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., each student at Lawrenceville Elementary will have the opportunity to select up to 10 books they would like to take home and read during the summer. The books will be sorted by grade level so students may select books appropriate for their grade and reading level. More than 1,100 Winn Holt Elementary School students selected their books this week.
