Young professional rocks the nonprofit world through Relay
There’s a lot of discussion in philanthropy about what to expect from the next generation of charity leaders, but many young professionals are already making their mark. Take 35-year-old Jason Jefferies, first vice president with Enterprise Information Solutions (EIS) Organization at SunTrust Bank and Relay For Life of Gwinnett co-chair. At SunTrust, Jeffries chairs the Atlanta Generations Teammate Network, one of eight diversity and inclusion networks.
Jeffries and his generation work hard professionally, but they’ve discovered there’s more to life outside of their jobs and relationships. This is where he uses his career skills and adapts them to an issue that has been “knocking on his heart.”
After losing an aunt to breast cancer and getting a taste of Relay For Life in Illinois while in college, Jeffries moved to Lawrenceville and was introduced to the Gwinnett event. It changed his life.
“I’ve grown my skills in relationship building, organizing and delegating, and simply leading and inspiring,” says Jeffries. “I like logistics and operations, and I like making difficult things seem simple and run smoothly. Relay offered me an opportunity to adapt my career skills, and I’m motivated to get more people involved and find new ways to love on our cancer survivors.”
