Shalyn Vanderhorst’s mother, Shannon, is an Atlanta native who moved to Gwinnett County to provide a better environment for her children and to take advantage of our great school system.
Shalyn has certainly taken full advantage of her opportunities. She is 11 years old and this year alone she was head of the student council, student of the month four times, and athlete of the month two times. She has been affiliated with Duke University’s TIP program since the age of 9, has some of the highest test scores in the country, and will be attending Duke University’s prestigious summer program, which is only offered to star students, for a week in June.
Shalyn recently gave the student address at her graduation from Norcross Elementary.
She has written a Chase Your Dreams Journal for her new Doll and book company Suite Dream Dollz, which she owns with her 20-year-old sister, Shanya. She founded her Doll and book company to inspire and motivate young girls around the world.
The first novel in the company’s Dream Chaserz series is available from Amazon.
Her dream is to continue writing books and ultimately become an astrophysicist. We’re betting Shalyn’s dreams come true.
Congrats Shalyn!
