If you’re in search of a great laugh as well as a polished performance, mark your calendar for October 18th, 19th, and 21st! Tickets are $4 reserved and $7 at the door. Directed by Archer High School Theatre teacher, Emily McClain, The Explorers Club is sure to leave audience members laughing until they cry. Anyone involved in Archer High School’s theatre department knows just how vital this show is for the school’s program. Not only is The Explorers Club, originally written by Nell Benjamin, the season opener for this accomplished group of young performers, but it is also the program’s primary project for the One Act competition that is held annually by the Georgia High School Association. The Tigers are shaping up to stomp out the competition this year as they received 3rd place in the region in the 2016-2017 event, as well as current Archer senior, Gabrielle Diaz, winning “Best Actress” for Silent Sky, written by Lauren Gunderson.
Set in 19th century London, the members of The Explorers Club undergo an existential crisis in this zany farce as club president Lucius Fretway is faced with feminism. Should this gentlemen’s club full of Brits welcome a woman into their fluky yet prestigious hideaway? Our actors are working relentlessly from nailing witty one-liners to perfecting a Victorian-era British accent, so you do not want to miss this unforgettable night of comedy! Get your tickets while they last and best of luck to our Tigers at the One Act competition!
