Meet Our New Interns: Bright Minds, Big Futures

Love Gwinnett and Gwinnett Magazine held its first intern meeting this week, hosted by Leadercast, the global leadership development organization based in Suwanee.

Almost 60 high school interns have been working with us since the beginning of the school year to gain real-world experience through our new Convergent Journalism Internship Program. This one-of-a kind, live-learning lab has attracted talented students from virtually Gwinnett County Public High School.

Intern work is published every week on the lovegwinnett.com website on pages dedicated to each county school cluster and our weekly enewsletter.

The intern gathering was our first chance to meet many of the interns in person, and it was quite an energetic and talented group. The students were welcomed by Leadercast CEO Duane Cummings, who rememinded the group of their potential. “Don’t you ever let anyone tell you that you can’t. Anything is possible… for each one of you.”

The group impressed Cummings and Gwinnett Magazine publisher David Greer. “What a great group of representatives for Gwinnett. Enthused. Brilliant. Kind. Eager. I couldn’t be more proud of Gwinnett County Public Schools, all their faculty and staff, and, most of all, these students.”

The Convergent Journalism Internship program was designed earlier this year to offer opportunities to students in Gwinnett County Public Schools’ Quest Internship and the Work-Based Learning programs, and other students seeking internships. Students gain experience reporting, writing, editing, and posting digital content and photos.
