New Girl is a sitcom that was released on Fox and had a long run of seven seasons. The show was very successful and had a huge fan following. Due to this, five years after the show ended, some of the actors have started to record a podcast. Starring Zooey Deschanel, Lamorne Morris and Hannah Simone, “Welcome to Our Show” is the new ultimate rewatch podcast of the beloved show.
The podcast episode that I especially enjoyed was the interview with their co-star, Jake Johnson. They talked about all the memories they had together on the show and Johnson’s future within the entertainment industry. He is currently working on the HBO Max show called Minx. It is set in the 70s and follows the idea of the first “Playgirl” magazine. He recalled fond memories on the set of New Girl and explained how they had to work long days. It was really interesting to listen to his experience working on the show.
The normal structure of the show is a little bit different when they are actually reviewing an episode. They begin with a summary of the episode in a funny voice that engages listeners. Then, they transition more into what they remember from the episode. Finally, they end with a segment called “True American.”
“True American” is a drinking game that the characters played in the show, but it never had clear and understood rules. Within the podcast, they play different games suggested by listeners that relate to the show itself. It’s often a confusing segment, like the rules of the game in the show.
Overall, this podcast is perfect for people that love the show. The show is very funny and entertaining to listen to. I am a huge fan of the show and it is very cool to hear all the behind the scenes secrets that only the actors would know. I cannot wait for more episodes to come out!
