Abby Lemma is a senior at Brookwood High School. With a smile on her face and a heart ready to serve, she finds as many ways as possible to be involved in the Brookwood community. She serves as the executive president of Brookwood’s student government and the secretary of National Honors Society. Additionally, she is part of numerous other clubs such as the Science National Honors Society, the Spanish Honors Society, NG3, and the Chick-fil-a Leader Academy.
Within her primary role as the executive president of Brookwood’s student government, she plans a number of fundraisers that support organizations such as Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, which directly assists those in our community. She works endlessly to help Brookwood flourish not only as a school but as a unified community.
She is a natural leader, gaining tremendous respect from many of her peers, and she uses her position in leadership to encourage others to participate alongside her. She explains, “I think it’s extremely important for people to be involved in their community because the community fosters your environment. It’s important to give back and help others around you.”
Her heart for serving is not just confined to the high school setting. She hopes to attend either the University of Georgia or Georgia Tech and later pursue a career as a neurosurgeon, providing yet another way to help others. Abby Lemma truly exemplifies what it means to be actively engaged in the community and be a positive impact to others.
