Im humbled by the kindness and compassion of complete strangers. ~ Laura Maguire (Charlottes mom)
Their world changed in a single day. Laura Maguire says, September 1, 2010 began with a trip to the pediatrician because I thought our daughter Charlotte, then four years old, might have an ear infection. Within six hours, we learned that
Charlotte had acute lymphocytic leukemia.
Charlottes doctors and medical team at Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta bolstered hope in Laura and
her family as treatment progressed.
The hospital also offers long-term support with one of the best survivor programs in
the country.
The health care professionals, volunteers, and other parents were a lifeline of support. Laura says, We have survived this journey through the help of family and friends, as well as the kindness of complete strangers through organizations like Lighthouse Family Retreat, Camp Sunshine, Make a Wish Foundation, and the Katie Beckett Fund.
Charlotte doesnt have many pre-leukemia memories, but she hasnt let cancer slow her down. Now three years since Charlottes final treatment, Laura says, Shes my keep on truckin kid.
