Micayla Aduhene comes from a culturally rich Ghanaian and Ivorian background. She resides with her parents and 4 enthusiastic siblings in a loving household. Along with having a perfect 4.0 GPA, Micayla successfully balances being involved in her community and school. Aduhene is on the PRHS dance team, an officer in PASA (Pan African Student Association) and Chickfila Leadership. She is also a member in UNICEF and HOSA. Micayla is currently a junior and is working hard to go into the medical field while keeping fashion as a side hobby. One of Micayla’s biggest passions is going to care facilities through her church where she brings food and toys to children. She believes that homeless mothers and children deserve more than what’s on their plate and wants to help them get back on their feet.
Her advice to those who are trying to do it all, like her, is to go out of their comfort zone. Aduhene says that “once I set my mind on accomplishing something there’s nothing stopping me. I have to put my comfort aside and once I see those children smiling because of something I’ve done_ the feeling is so immeasurable”.
If Micayla could say one thing to all high-schoolers, it would be to have fun with whatever you’re doing, even if it’s just for you- joining clubs and volunteering isn’t for everyone. Do what makes you happy whether that’s in sports, dance, a job, or even casually binge-watching Netflix on a Monday night. Just do something that makes you want to look back on in 10 years like, “Wow, I actually did that!”.
For now, she’s busy impacting the world one step at a time through her church and strong perseverance.
