At Peachtree Ridge High School, there are numerous organizations and clubs that help serve the community. However, UNICEF (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) is the ultimate student-led organization that strives to help fund developing countries as well as giving support for children in need of shelters and other necessities.
UNICEF is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to advocate for the protection of children’s rights, to help meet their basic needs, and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential. This club saves and protects the world’s most vulnerable children, working to ensure child rights and providing health care, immunizations, nutrition, access to safe water and sanitation services, basic education, protection and emergency relief. In order to raise fund for developing countries, UNICEF holds frequent carwashes, hosts fundraisers (selling goods for donation), and opens the door to UNICEF members for countless volunteering opportunities in order to help serve our community as well.
Our school’s UNICEF officers do a phenomenal job in striving to give back to the community and informing their members of new events, fundraisers, and donations. The efficiency and efficacy of support provided by the officers to program preparation and planning and implementation of programs/projects contribute to the achievement of sustainable results to improve learning outcomes and equitable, inclusive and universal access to education. Success in education programs and projects in turn contribute to maintaining a\nd enhancing the credibility and ability of UNICEF to provide program services for mothers and children that promotes greater social equality in the country.
UNICEF goes beyond what is expected to desperately support children and mothers in need of basic human necessities and give hope to their future.
